About The Role

As the Cyclotron Engineer, you will be responsible for all technical aspects relating to the monitoring, training, planning and execution of Cyclotron Operations. The post holder will be seen as a technical expert within the Cyclotron Operations field, with a broad knowledge in the management of direct daily operations of the cyclotrons and support equipment. The Cyclotron Engineer will be expected to oversee the operation and maintenance of cyclotrons, with their responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring safety protocols, and enhancing machine efficiency.

The post holder will be expected to contribute specialist technical knowledge and participate in the research stage for all documentation for the build, installation and commissioning of any cyclotron. In addition to this, the successful candidate will also be expected to Implementing and managing standard operating procedures for cyclotron operation to ensure safe delivery of operational tasks. 

It is essential that the successful candidate has had previous successful experience in a Cyclotron Engineer position, with evidence of having achieved an exceptional level of service throughout this time. It is imperative that the successful candidate has experience in designing and constructing cyclotron systems, with a knowledge of radiation safety measures and regulations. The post holder will also be familiar with the use of soft and hardware used cyclotron operation and maintenance, using this to contribute to the smooth operational delivery.

About Us

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced the commencement of its African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) project in Abuja, Nigeria. It will provide world-class care to both low and high-income patient groups across the continent. The AMCE in Partnership with King's College Hospital London will be located in Abuja, which is a hub for travel in Nigeria and West Africa, enabling it to attract patients across the region.

The African Medical Centre of Excellence will be implemented in four phases over a six-year period, starting with a 170-bed specialist hospital before expanding to a 500-bed facility. The centre will have the potential to provide services to over 200,000 patients in Nigeria and a further 150,000 patients from neighbouring West African countries within its first five years of operation.

The clinical areas the centre will specialise in Cardiology, Haematology and Oncology. A range of businesses providing relevant health support will support this facility and provide commercial services to its patients and staff, thus creating a healthcare ecosystem sustainably designed to deliver long-term value to its community and region.

This is an outstanding initiative and creates a unique opportunity to be involved in the opening chapter of this exciting project that is set to make a decisive impact on non-communicable disease care across Nigeria and West Africa. The AMCE will benefit millions of people in Abuja and over the wider regions of West Africa.
